Teaching Practice (TP)

TP is undertaken in small groups of trainees with volunteer students at two different levels. A total of 6 hours observed practice is the requirement over the course. Over the course you will teach a variety of lessons of 20 minutes, 40 minutes and 1 final lesson of 60 minutes. Feedback sessions, led by a course trainer, follow each TP session and are also a key component of the course. Trainees will find it useful to liaise within fellow trainees outside of course hours in order to plan teaching practice classes but within guidelines set by the trainer.

Tutorials and assessments

There are at least two tutorials for each trainee to map progress. Assessment of the course is continuous, integrated and based on meeting the course assessment criteria over TWO components – 6 hours of planning and teaching and four classroom-related written assignments. To be awarded the Certificate, both components must be completed successfully.
